Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot is leading in the constituency of Tonk even as trends show the BJP leading in the western state.
Pilot is up against Bhartiya Janata Party’s Ajit Singh Mehta in the Tonk constituency.
As of 11 am, the BJP is leading in 109 out of 199 seats while Congress has 75 seats.
Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Ashok Bairwa, Social Democratic Party of India’s (SDPI) Abdul Latif, Indian Peoples Green Party’s (IPGP) Ganesh, Aazad Samaj Party’s (Kanshi Ram) Mohammad Shoeb Khan and Independent candidates Sitaram and Jagdish Prasad Sharma are also in the fray in Tonk.
In 2013, BJP candidate Ajit Singh Mehta won the Tonk seat by defeating Independent candidate Saud Saidi with a margin of 30,343 votes.
Meanwhile, the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan is leading from Jhalrapatan.
The results for the Assembly elections 2023 in four states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana are set to be announced on Sunday (3 November).
As per the latest trends, BJP is ahead in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Congress, while Congress is leading in Telangana.
Assembly elections were held in five states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram last month which is being viewed as the semi-final to the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections which are due in less than six months.
