Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday as BJP President JP Nadda formally announced an alliance between NDA and JDS.
“I am happy that JD(S) has decided to be the part of National Democratic Alliance. We wholeheartedly welcome them in the NDA. This will further strengthen NDA and vision of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji for ‘New India, Strong India’,” Nadda said on X.

Following his meeting with Shah, Kumaraswamy said, “Today formally we discussed about joining hands with the BJP. We’ve discussed the preliminary issues formally…There is no demand (from our side).”

“To make NDA stronger, JDS has formally joined the NDA alliance today and I congratulate them for this… The Parliamentary board and the JDS will decide over the seat sharing…” CM Sawant said.

Earlier, Kumaraswamy had underscored the need for strong opposition against the Congress government that has come to power in the state and said discussions will be directed at this.
Ruling out the possibility of him contesting in the Lok Sabha polls, he said people of the Channapatna constituency had voted for him and that he would remain there for the people.
