Abhishek Banerjee to skip ED summon, dares to 'stop' him from going to Delhi to attend TMC protest

“STOP ME IF YOU CAN!” said Lok Sabha MP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) senior leader Abhishek Banerjee in an apparent dare to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) who has summoned him in Kolkata on 3 October for questioning his alleged role with the school jobs scam in Kolkata.

Banerjee in a post on X (formerly Twitter) said he would be in Delhi on 2 and 3 October to join his party in protest against the Centre’s decision to withhold West Bengal dues under MGNREGA. He was supposed to lead the protest rally.

“The fight against the deprivation of West Bengal and its rightful dues shall persist regardless of the obstacles. No force on Earth can hinder my dedication to fight for the people of WB and their fundamental rights. I’ll b in Delhi joining the protest on 2 and 3 October. STOP ME IF U CAN!” Banerjee posted on X.

Earlier, the TMC leader took a dig at the central government following his summon by the ED on October 3 which was coinciding with the TMC's scheduled protest in Delhi.

The TMC claimed that Banerjee's summon was an attempt by the BJP to disrupt its planned rally in New Delhi on the same day.

Sharing the draft of the summons issued to him on 'X', Banerjee took a swipe at the BJP-led central government saying this reveals those who have are "truly perturbED, rattlED and scarED!"

Banerjee, along with other party MPs, MLAs and leaders will pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in the national capital on 2 October on his birth anniversary.

A TMC delegation will meet Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh on 3 October and place before him the issue of "non-release of dues" under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
