UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said in a statement that the Centre is determined to subvert the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005. Her reaction came after the Lok Sabha passed RTI (Amendment) Bill, 2019 on Monday. The bill proposed to give the Centre the power to set the tenure and salaries of state and central Information Commissioners.
