Lok Sabha introduces RTI Amendment bill amid protests from Opposition; activists warn modifications likely to weaken provision

Amid protests by opposition parties in the Lok Sabha, a bill which seeks to take away the stature of information commissioners from the equivalent of election commissioners and give the Centre the power to set their salaries and service conditions was introduced.
