Trees are cut to pave way for several development projects and saplings are planted to assuage the damage, said Union Environment, Forest Minister Prakash Javadekar. 'Narendra Modi government has cut a whopping 1,09,75,844 trees in the past 5 years!', said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Twitter.
